An Answer to Prayer

Andalee got some cool new Skechers shoes for school and she LOVED them.  She'd wear them all the time.  They lit up on the bottom when she walked, they were sparkly and pink, they were cool.  Well, somehow on the morning of the second day of school, the shoes had disappeared.  We frantically searched everywhere.  I told her to retrace her steps.  We looked in the van, her room, the basement, in the yard, etc. etc.  Nothing.  She was devastated!  She finally ended up just wearing her hiking shoes.

The next day we still hadn't found them.  I asked Andalee, "Have you prayed and asked Heavenly Father to help you?"

She told me she hadn't.  I always tell my kids that's the first thing they should do when they need to find something, b/c the Holy Ghost can help bring things to our remembrance.  So we knelt down together to pray.  Andalee asked me to say it.  And the coolest thing happened.  Right after I prayed, "Please help Andalee remember where she took them off," she suddenly gasped.  After I ended the prayer she said, "Mom, I know where they are!  They're at Eliza's house!"

We had stopped by my sister's house to pick up Eliza, but I didn't think Andalee had taken off her shoes there b/c we were there so briefly.  Still, I said I'd text Lisa and ask her.  Andalee had to wear her hiking shoes again that day.

Well...later that day, Lisa texted me and said, "I found them!  They were in the front yard on the grass!"

Wahoo!!!  I was excited that we found the shoes...but I was even more grateful that Heavenly Father had answered Andalee's prayer.  And I pointed that out to her b/c I want her to develop a deep testimony that Heavenly Father hears all of His children's prayers, and that no matter how seemingly insignificant the issue may seem, if it's important to us, it's important to Him.

I am so grateful for our loving Father in Heaven and for the power of prayer!
